Finally upgraded my iMac to  Mountain Lion.  Now I'll find out is Final Cut Express will work with this OS.  That's the main reason I waited to upgrade but now that I don't have any projects pending it seemed like a good time to do it.  Plenty of time to find new vidding software if FCE craps out.

It's a good sign that you can open FCE and import files. Most of the issues I heard about involved it not launching at all, or not being able to open existing projects anymore. Fingers crossed.

I dl'd a trial of FCPX and found the interface (dark grey backgrounds with tiny lighter grey text, plus bonus bright neon-colored buttons and file placeholders) impossible to use. YMMV.

Adobe's move to rental model was totally boneheaded and greedy, IMO. It's too bad Photoshop, specifically, doesn't really have any competition, because it really screws freelance graphic designers/artists, big time.
