Hard agree!!! I read the book as we had a local connection, and it drove me crazy that they left out so many great stories, and hashed up and dumbed down the epic cultural quest undertaken under the most drastic circumstances. Granted, they had a few cultural biases, but overall effort was beautifully quixotic.
