Isn't it Thursday yet?
Aug. 11th, 2013 03:14 pmI am so ready for Vividcon. Actually, I'm really ready for a vacation since work, which I normally love, has really been piling on the strange requests from our central office in Washington. I won't go into the details here, fandom is as escape from the bureaucratic world of working for the government, but in a weird way it's also given me the perfect solace.
I watch practically all the vids during
festivids making a list of movies and shows that are new to me and look like something I might want to follow up on. This year The Thick of It made my short list of possible good stuff. With the announcement that Peter Capaldi is going to be the next doctor, I thought this might be a good time to see just what he's like.
OMG, I love foul-mouthed, abusive Malcolm Tucker. Which is so wrong. People should treat each other the way he treats everyone, but damn, I know a few bureaucrats I'd love to put in their place, Tucker-style. The spin-off movie, In the Loop, was not quite as good, but if you love creative cursing and dark British humor (or should that be humour?), check out The Thick of It.
