back to basics
After some discouragements last spring I had dropped running from my daily walks, but picked it up again in August. Gradually, I increased the jogging intervals several times a week and by this fall I even had a couple of workouts where those wonderful endorphins kicked in and all was good. But on Halloween the flu hit with a vengeance. By Thanksgiving I felt fine again, but was in Connecticut with family. This was followed by a bad chest cold which was waning by early this month. Hoping that I hadn't lost too much conditioning I planned to start adding in the running this week.
Then came the norovirus (formerly called Norwalk virus). It was either that or some nasty, nasty food poisoning. So far about half the people who attending a holiday open house last Monday (including me) were laid low by the nastiest damn stomach woes I have ever had. I finally feel fine this weekend and it's back to the treadmill for me. Hope I've used up my infectious disease bad luck for the rest of the winter.
