Cons, cons, cons

Plans for the vid panel at HLWW9 are underway - it looks like I'll be focusing on the history of HL vidding. One of the earliest HL vids I could find, a 1996 vid set to a Beatles song, is great and I've got permission to show it. I am still looking for information on vids and, more impotantly, vidders who would like to share stories of their experiences. Even if you are unable to attend the con, I would still like to here from you. Hopefully I'll be working something up, perhaps an essay for fanlore.org.

With my growing obsession interest in vidding I decided to attend Vividcon.  Gotta thank unovis for giving me a heads up that they sell out quickly - this time the attending memberships were gone 5 1/2 minutes after the registration opened.  Luckily I got through in time.

Oh, cool about VVC. Hope to see you there (I'm in, but have to make sure I can afford it).

Wow! Glad you got registered in time. Sounds like a dedicated group. I'll look forward to hearing about your experience.

This will be my first con that's not strictly Highlander-related, I'm kind of excited, too.

I hope you can, too. I've got one friend who I know has gone in the past, but I'm looking forward to meeting a bunch of new people.

I'll keep you posted. If possible, I'm going to try to have a vid to submit. And you know Peter in it big time. In the back of my mind I've been thinking about an Emerson vid but I don't have the right song yet. Song first, vid second. Means listening to a really eclectic iTunes list, but I had that already.

Yay Vividcon! It's definitely my favorite con of the ones I've gone to and it's really welcoming and fun and has the best talk about vids ever. It's the perfect place for a vid lover. I look forward to seeing you there :)

I'm hoping to come to HLWW9, that vid panel is a big reason and if I do come, I'd love to share my vid, The Trouble With Poets (I call it slash but it can be gen too, it's not overt) with everyone. Who else is going to be there? (if you can share) I don't know much about history but I'd contact [livejournal.com profile] wickedwords and [livejournal.com profile] sherrold who are part of the Media Cannibals who did a lot of great Highlander vids. If you can, see if you can get "It's All Been Done" about how there was so many HL vids with Methos and Duncan/Methos that the clips were all used before that's not only an fun Highlander one but big for meta vidding in general.

I've been swapping email with killabeez who also cc'd wickedwords and sherrold about the Media Cannibals' work. Also been tracking down other early vids, but you are the first person who has actually said they were coming to LA. I'll keep you in mind and keep you posted.

Now that I've been developing the history of vidding as the focus of the panel, I have tracked down several early vidders and am just now figuring out what I want to show and am tracking down permissions. I won't know how many newer vids I'll have time for until I get an better idea of how long I'll have for the panel and Judes doesn't have the fan panel schedule finalized yet. If I only have 1 hour for the panel, then it's mostly going to be about the history, if I've got more than that, then I'll expand it a bit.

If you do decide to come, let me know. If I have time during the panel, it would be nice for people to get a chance to watch a couple of vids and talk to the vidders about how and why they made them. Sure, I'll be there and be happy to talk about mine, but they might get tired of listening to me talk.
